Roman Polanski Arrested

Movie director Roman Polanski (The Pianist, Chinatown, Rosemary’s Baby) was finally arrested Saturday for a having sex with a 13-year-old girl 32 years ago. Polanski had been “hiding” from American authorities in Europe ever since. I put hiding in quotes, because Polanski was still making high profile movies like The Pianist.

Two things…

1) What took the Americans so long to arrange this arrest in Zurich? Why didn’t they just call on Batman to go get him?

2) Why are American authorities still hung up on this? As the Times article said, “the victim in the case, Samantha Geimer, has long since publicly identified herself and expressed forgiveness for Mr. Polanski.”

Dude raped a 13 year old and then fled the country to avoid a jail sentence. The timing of this is weird, but its not like he doesn’t deserve it.

Yeah, no doubt he deserves to be in jail. I’m just questioning the 30 year focus on him.
