The Nobel Committee did what?

From the NY Times:

The Nobel Committee announced in Oslo that it has awarded the annual peace prize to Barack Obama, just nine months into his presidency, “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

They Nobel Committee neglected to mention that Obama hasn’t ended the Iraq War and is escalating the Afghanistan War. He hasn’t done much beyond verbally affirming his commitment to peace and diplomacy.

Shouldn’t the Nobel Committee have waited for some actions and results?

P.S. I suppose this is a step up from giving the Peace Prize to war criminals.

Its kind of unfair to hold him accountable for two inherited wars that he’s getting all sorts of conflicting advice from his generals on. That said, this is pretty amusing. As if giving an award for “Peace” has any meaning anyways.

    Futurama quote:
Farnsworth: It’s a little experiment that might win me the Nobel Prize.
    Leela: In which field?
Farnsworth: I don’t care – they all pay the same.

    Nice quote.

And I’m not blaming Obama for getting this peace prize. He may yet deserve it.
